The fish thieves

Two cats trying to steal fish
George and Buster, cat burglars

Cats = opportunists. We know this. I try to discourage my small clan to desist, but when there’s fresh fish, freshly cooked and sitting on the counter top, all law-abiding morals go out of the feline window. George and Buster are determined to help themselves to the kitten’s supper as it cools…

I live in a fairytale

My family came to Magura this month, for their first visit. My brother Charles couldn’t get over the beauty of the place and told everyone it was like being in a fairytale. He’s right, and I am grateful for that every day.

Not only it is very beautiful here – the landscape, the weather, everything – but life in rural Transylvania offers up constant treats. Here’s my neighbour Roxana with her two daughters, another neighbour, Georgi, and her schoolfriend. They were in traditional dress, on their way to a wedding in the village, where they were going to sing for the bride. They took the time, however, to give us a preview. How much more charming could you get?

{Thanks to Charles for the images – the light looks a bit weird because the sun was so bright the camera couldn’t quite cope with the contrast]

Dragons SOLD OUT a week after launch

George 3Only launched at Bookfest last Friday, the initial print run of Dragoni pe cerul Londrei (Dragons over London) is already sold out! Congratulations to the Booklet Fiction team, who have had to nudge the printers for a swift second print run after only six days…

Thanks to children, parents and teachers for showing such enthusiasm for George and his dragons that 3,000 copies of the book have walked out of the door in less than a week!
